Recycling Tips

We encourage you to check with your local municipality to learn what materials may be placed in curbside recycling bins or brought to community recycling centers. The following are tips for recycling our containers:

Plastic Containers

  • Remove lids to dry empty containers.
  • Solidify residual liquid by adding cat litter or newspaper to accelerate the process.
  • Recycle dry empty containers using curbside programs that accept the number 2 and number 5 “chasing arrows” recycling symbols or designated drop-off sites.
  • Dispose of filled containers at household hazardous waste service sites.

Steel Containers

  • Solidify residual liquid by adding cat litter or newspaper to accelerate the process.
  • Recycle dry empty containers using curbside programs, designated drop-off sites or private scrap recycling companies.
  • Dispose of filled cans at household hazardous waste service sites.

Aerosol Containers

  • Empty aerosol cans entirely and remove plastic cap.
  • Recycle empty aerosol cans using curbside programs or designated drop-off sites.
  • Contact local recycling facilities to see if they can accept and drain partially-filled aerosol cans.
  • Recycle plastic caps using curbside programs or designated drop-off sites.
