Richard D. Turek

Richard D. Turek, 39, is Vice President Metal Operations of BWAY Corporation, a leading North American supplier of general line metal and rigid plastic containers.

In his current position, Rick directs activities for metal container manufacturing plants in the United States producing general line and aerosol rigid packaging containers. The range of products includes paint and aerosol cans, cone and pour top cans, and steel open- and tight-head pails, among others. The Metal Operations team is focused on driving Continuous Improvement in all areas including Safety, Quality, Productivity and spoilage reductions. In 2010, Rick and his team successfully integrated a large acquisition achieving targeted manufacturing synergies. He has 17 years of leadership experience working in manufacturing environment.

Rick joined ICL Industrial Containers ULC, a subsidiary of BWAY, as Vice President and General Manager in 2008, and he was named to his current position in 2009. Prior to this, Rick held progressively more responsible management positions over nine years in the automotive industry with several subsidiaries of Magna International, Inc. Among these are: Assistant General Manager, Production Manager and Program Development Manager for Magna Closures in Canada; and Assistant Director of Business Development at PAL International in the Czech Republic. He started his career in the Aviation industry with United Technologies.

He has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona, and a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business Management from the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Additionally, Rick has completed Level 4 certification of the Certified Professional Purchaser designation sponsored by the Purchasing Management Association of Canada.
